About Us
Container Freight Station Association of India (CFSAI) is a registered non-profit making Company under section 8 of the Indian Companies Act 1956 . It was informally started in 2004 by the owners of Private CFSs based in Mumbai and was registered formally in 2006. From a meagre member base of 4-5 members CFSs in 2004, over a period of last 17 years, CFSAI has 43 Member CFSs who operate their state-of-the-art CFS facilities primarily located in Gujarat & Maharashtra Ports of JNPA, Mundra Pipavav & Hazira. Our members collectively handle approx. 75 % of the EXIM Containerized trade of the country which is routed through the CFSs.
Some of our large members also operate multiple CFSs, Logistics Parks, ICDs, and state-of-the-art Warehouses pan-India
Our members operate their facilities with modern equipment, latest Technology & IT enabled systems and solutions in most of their operations so as to provide maximum efficiency and world class cargo handling services to their clients. Under the “Ease of doing Business” they support the Importers / Exporters and other stakeholders with most innovative and cost effective solutions for safe and secured handling of their EXIM cargoes. Being Custom Cargo Service Providers (CCSPs) they adhere to all the rules and regulations under Customs Act 1962 and other statutory and regulatory compliances.
The activities of the Association, are managed by a Managing Committee comprising of office bearers duly elected by the Members of the Association and are assisted by the Secretariat. President of the Association is elected by the duly elected office bearers. Further CFSAI being a section 8 non-profit making company, majority of Managing Committee members are also Directors on Board of CFSAI.
Gujarat Chapter of CFSAI
Whilst all CFSAI functions are handled by Managing Committee duly assisted by the Secretariat from its Head office in Mumbai, the Gujarat Chapter of CFSAI based at Mundra plays the key leadership role for all local representations and takes up various complex local issues and works toward resolving same with Port, Terminals, Customs and local administration.
Affiliation & Association with Apex Governmental & Trade Bodies
CFSAI is recognized as the apex association of CFSs by all the concerned Central Ministries namely Ministry of Finance, Commerce & Shipping and work closely with CBIC, Logistics Division and provides valued inputs in various consultative meets arranged by these Ministries. CFSAI is an active member of task force for TRS study under the national Trade facilitation committee (NCTF), SCOPE (Shipping) ,FICCI, CII, ASSOCHAM & IMC Ports Shipping & Logistics Committees.
Joint Informal Cooperation Agreement with National Association of Container Freight (NACFS)
NACFS & CFSAI both being national level apex Associations of CFSs & share a same ideology, Vision and Mission. Whereas, some of the lead members of both the associations having multiple CFS/ICD facilities pan-India, such members have the membership of both the associations. The management of both NACFS & CFSAI have been jointly representing in various forums and have conveyed to CBIC & logistics Ministry that: “CFSAI & NACFS, the apex associations of CFSs representing all major CFSs & ICDs Pan-India have been working in tandem and close coordination with each other and compliment and supplement each other in their endeavours to reduce the EXIM containerized Logistics costs by adopting best global practices under “Ease of doing Business”.
With a spirit of cooperation, mutual trust, respect and having common vision, goals & objectives, Management of both the apex associations signed an “Informal Cooperation Agreement” on 2nd December 2022.
